How many times have you driven down a street or off an exit ramp and there stood a man with a sign: " Will work for food, homeless!" I saw this one true and honest pan handler, he had a sign quoting " Need food money". So out of curtiousy, I offered him a job at my business to just sweep and clean up. His answer was,"Lady I make more money in one day than you probably do in a week". Wow I thought. Here I have been giving money to these people and I'm probably just being laughed at. Just for trying to be a good person and for feeling sorry for them?!
So I talked to another one. I asked aproxamently how much he usually made. I was informed around $200.00 to $250.00 a day. Some single mothers supporting their children don't make this much in a week, and have to work hard for their money... So the next time you decide to drop that money into their can "stop" and think, I could be helping a true needy child, not a person that is just too lazy to work and depends on people like you to support them and their habbits!!
Pan handling should be stoped. Not only does it make our city look bad, it makes us descent people look like fools!! There are many, many different places these people can go for help. Besides taking from the pockets of working people? Why don't we all just quit our jobs and get some rags on and stand on the corner?? I saw one with some brand new carhart coverhalls on. I can't even afford $80.00 carhart clothes! Is there something wrong with this picture or what???
